The first edition of the Nigerian National Climate Change Awareness flag-off will bring together all experts from around the World to dialogue on how best we can secure a future for our Nation and our children now is the time to set a new and positive direction for our national environmental protection and development. We need policies that will lead our nation away from fossil based fuels, which major task is to help the Nigerian students have positive behavioral change towards our environment for better health as key for living.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Climate change is a major threat to the sustainable development of Nigeria and the global nations, responding to climate change from both mitigation and adaptation angles require strategic approaches from policy, regulatory and institutional frameworks and capacities. In our research, we examined the extent to which the adaptive capacities of Nigeria have been utilized to influence environmental sector policies that have influence in enhancing the national climate change adaptation responses.
After this flag-off campaign event, our organization with the support of our esteem partners with government agencies and private organization, we will actively key into our stipulated programs as shown below, as we urge all relevant National and International government agencies and private organizations/companies to support this initiative for effective result.
OUR PROGRAMS ARE STIPULATED INTO FOUR CATEGORIES;
1. Radio Interactive Program; we aim to discuss and educate the general public on Climate Issues such as; Pollution, Risk, Lives, Death, Prevention, Solution, Deforestation/Forestation, fossil fuel, Investment, Carbon, Erosion, Desertification, Flooding, Energy, Opportunity, Expo, Policy, adaptation, Clean Development Mechanism, Government, Business, etc. on our Live Radio program is titled: “Nigeria Climate Issues” and its open for general sponsorship.
2. Student Climate Club; we aim to setup Climate Club in Primary and Secondary schools Nationwide after effective campaign drive, the establishment of Students Climate Clubs in Primary, Secondary, and high institutions nationwide to teach students about Climate Issues such as; the Risk, Prevention/Solution, adaptation, Opportunity/Benefits, etc.
3. Nigerian Climate Youths Corps & Nigerian Climate Warriors; this will actively involve Nigerian Youths and enable them to actively key into Climate professions for empowerment, job creation, sustainable economic development, environmental mitigation programs, tree planting, education, etc.
4. Face 2 Face Climate Awareness; to actively drive a mass climate change campaign for public awareness, as non-political, non-religious, non-ethnic, and non-violent climate awareness/campaign. We will ensure best peaceful and friendly climate change campaign in Nigerian States, using Posters, Handbills, Sports/Cycling, Road walk, Conference/workshop, quiz, etc.
Our organization’s commitment to the above Clean, Green and Prosperous environment will not be enough to achieve the desired result, but collaborating with cooperate government/none government agencies and organization at national/international levels for sustainable achievement.
